If you want to get out and beat the heat tonight, there’s an outdoor downtown concert for you.
The first in a series of outdoor summer concerts for Prince George goes from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m on 3rd Ave. in the space between Nancy O’s and the White Goose.
Organizer Neil O’Farrell with Initiatives Prince George says the gig features the folky sounds of Raghu Lokanathan (pictured).
He says the main reason they are starting up these small outdoor concerts is to tell the community that everyone has a chance to start something, if you have some imagination.
“It’s a lot of preparation and work,” he says. “It involves getting a musician to play for a time that works best for everyone, it’s organizing with the city to rent the space, we’ve also been working heavily with Carla Johnston at the [Downtown Business Improvement Association], who is backing us, as well as getting some sponsorships.”
On future gigs, O’Farrell says “We have three other concerts lined up, the next one will be on August 13th, then on August 20th, and we’re still in talks with musicians for August 27th and September 3rd.”
