Prince George RCMP should be fully staffed by spring time.
For a handful of reasons, Staff Sergeant Warren Brown says the detachment is down a handful of officers.
“We’ve lost a lot of people this year through promotions so we’ve got a very senior membership at the Prince George City Detachment in management and senior positions. Becuase of the good work they’ve done they’ve been rewarded through promotion.”
Other reasons the force is short is due to personal and health reasons.
“It’s a high-stress job and mental health is a concern for us because of the pressures we face so we have to continue supporting those members who to get sick over the course of the year.”
The detachment has enough funding for 128 officers, even though Brown says a “full roster” would be about 138.
