The last city council meeting of 2016 takes place tonight.
There will be a presentation from the local Red Dress Campaign who will be reporting on their first annual event that took place this year. The campaign aims to raise awareness about missing and murdered women.
Mayor Lyn Hall will also be presenting a report recommending that the City contribute up to 50 thousand dollars in 2017 as its share of the proposed Highway 16 Inter-Community Transit Service and General Manager of Community Services Rob Whitwham will be presenting the community association strategy for approval.
There will also be several grant applicants before council this evening – including Two Rivers Gallery for a grant up to $2,500 for BMO KidzArt Dayz and the Prince George Folkfest Society who are seeking the City’s support for their application for a grant up to $2,500 for Coldsnap 2017.
Starting at 7 pm, there will be a formal public on a rezoning application submitted by L&M Engineering Ltd. for Hartfirst Developments Ltd., Inc. The application covers 3 properties – 4555 Venta Drive, 9029 Kelly Road and 4717 Zral Road – which would be rezoned from rural, suburban and single residential, agriculture and forestry, greenbelt and parks and recreation in order to be developed into a multi-lot subdivision. Council will hear the results of a traffic impact study completed in November.
Tonight’s meeting starts at 6 pm in the Council Chambers at City Hall.
