PG Hospice Society offer tips for those grieving this Christmas

Christmas is a time spent with family and friends, but there are those who may not get that chance because of certain circumstances.

The Prince George Hospice Society understands being without your loved ones can be difficult this time of year and are offering tips on how to stay positive.

Executive Director Donna Flood says it’s okay to acknowledge those who have passed on, moved on, or simply can’t make it home for the holidays.

“It’s important to let your feelings out; you’re allowed to cry and you’re allowed to laugh, but sometimes you have to move past the old traditions and create new traditions.”

Flood says the Hospice door is always open for those wanting to spend Christmas with people who may be in the same boat or for those who wish to volunteer for their first ever ‘Give A Gift’ program.

“You can give a gift in memory of someone who has been provided care at Hospice. We’re looking really to continue to provide the care we do; that’s a bit different here at Hospice.”

She says they’ve reached 35% of their $25,000 goal to purchase groceries for a year.
