If you’re living on the west end of Prince George, you may want to find a warmer place to hang out on Monday.
BC Hydro is conducting a planned power outage between 9AM and 3PM as the BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure is widening Highway 16.
“We have to move our poles back and the power line back farther away from the centre line of the highway to make way for the wider road,” says BC Hydro spokesperson Bob Gammer.
He says more than 1,700 customers will be affected by the outage and advises residents between Bunce Road and Telachick Road to make a plan for the day.
“You might choose to be somewhere else during those hours, make sure you throw on an extra sweater, just make sure your house is really warm before the power goes out; there are some options that people have.”
Gammer says crews could be done sooner if plans move quickly.
