Weekend weather expected to warm up Prince George

Next week’s expected warmer weather will make Prince George’s two-week cold snap feel like a distant memory.

Temperatures will be hovering around the high single digits as early as Sunday with some rain as a possibility.

Ross MacDonald with Environment Canada says residents shouldn’t be hitting the panic button on the rain just yet.

“Most of the precipitation is going to fall as snow. There’s a possibility as it does warm up and as we see these transitions usually happen, it’ll sometimes start as snow, but we might see it briefly transition over to more of a wet snow or mixed rain and snow.”

MacDonald also expects this weather to continue into the week of Christmas.

“It looks like temperatures will certainly continue more on the more moderated scale as we push into the second half of next week with highs of -3 or -4 and lows of -6 or -7.”

Prince George saw 10 days of -20 degree temperatures during the two-week period.
