The Food For Fare program allows Prince George residents to take all transit routes for free by food donation.
While transit is free for everyone regardless this weekend, City Transit Planner Josephine Marachia says people have been supporting the cause.
“We’re definitely still encouraging people to still donate directly to the Salvation Army or to any place that accepts canned goods and non-perishable food items. We will be dropping them off at some point next week.”
She understands with the recent air quality advisory in place, not everyone will choose transit, but also says donations continue to come in for the program.
Marachia says since the pledge began, the city has been able to fill up three full boxes of donations.
