St. Vincent de Paul seeking help handing out hampers

There’s still time to spread some holiday cheer throughout the city.

The St. Vincent de Paul Society will be handing out its Christmas hampers on Tuesday, Dec. 20th, and something project organiser Bernie Goold could use some help with.

“We would ask for drivers who would deliver hampers to those that cannot come and pick up their hampers up,” Goold says, “they’re heavy boxes so you need to be strong!”

If you can’t deliver on that day but would still like to help out, the Society is continuously accepting toys and food, as well as cash donations to buy fruits and vegetables. Even if you can’t make it to the Society before Christmas Day, she says food donations will be a big help in weeks following it.

“Some of this food will be used in January, February, and March for hampers, because we do as many hampers over those three months as we do at Christmas … people are out of money, utilities have gone up, everything is costing more.”

If you want to get involved at all, Goold asks that you contact the Society as soon as possible.
