While the 6th annual Community Christmas Fundraiser between Vista Radio and the St. Vincent De Paul Society has ended, the giving has not.
Selen Alpay with Canadian Tire made a $5,000 donation on Friday morning and says the reasons behind the contribution is simple.
“I am just happy to be in a fine community that always comes to the table and I just feel like I’m doing my part as well because we have a lot less fortunate people than we are and we should help those people out.”
Alpay also believes people who have more than those living out in the cold shouldn’t be whining.
“So we’re all complaining bitterly about the cold yes some people slept outside last night. Last night I slept in a warm bed and oh poor me I had to get up this morning into a really cold truck and I am complaining about it and I’m thinking I have nothing to complain about.”
Bernie Goold with St. Vincent De Paul’s says she’s absolutely thrilled with the donation. “He’s incredible and if their was ever a Santa Claus walking on this earth that man is him.”
On Thursday, Alpay and his staff donated a bunch of winter jackets during the fundraiser.
