Prince George Aquatic Centre closed after electrical system issue

The city has temporarily closed the Prince George Aquatic Centre after an unexpected electrical issue.

Workers believe a sprinkler head broke above an electrical panel damaged the facility’s whole electrical system. The city and BC Hydro are unsure of the extent of the damages.

There were no injuries reported. All pool users have been evacuated and aquatics staff has been sent home for the day.

The city hopes to have power restored in a few hours.

We’ll have more information as it becomes available.
