Prince George RCMP target impaired driving, issue 29 violations over weekend

Prince George mounties are reminding everyone to always find a safe ride home this holiday season after RCMP had a busy Friday and Saturday night.

Officers of the Municipal Traffic Services, assisted by General Duty officers, targeted impaired drivers and issued a total of 29 violations.

Results include:

– 6 alcohol impairments
3 – 90-day IRP, with 30 day vehicle impoundment
1 – 7 day IRP
2 – 3 day IRP
– 1 impairment by drugs (received a 24-hour suspension)
– 8 speeding tickets
– 2 violations at intersections
– 2 distracted driving violations (use of cell phones)
– 1 unlicensed driver caught, given a 7-day vehicle impoundment
– 3 no insurance violations
– 3 administrative violations
– 3 non-compliances resulting in vehicle inspections

PG RCMP are suggesting to assign a designated driver, call a cab, use public transit, or Operation Red Nose to get home safely.
