The Prince George Bear Aware Society has received a generous donation from the Northern Lights Estate Winery.
Nearly $4000 was given to the society and Director Dave Bakker says the money will cover major investments for the community.
“Basic operating expenses are now covered for years. Continuing with our education program, we were able to make 40 individual presentations throughout this year, from preschool to high school to individual groups.”

The money is also payment for apples collected by the Society to Northern Lights, thanks to workers across the city who struggle with making ends meet.
Bakker says this donation will strengthen their long-term relationship with the winery.
“We can continue with our education program which we feel is critical to changing the attitudes and addressing the conflict levels. This is going to go a long ways.”
This is the second straight year the winery has provided funds to the society to help resolve bear-human conflict.
