Downtown Prince George is covered in water and traffic near 3rd Avenue and Vancouver Street is moving slowly after a 12-inch water main burst this morning.
City of Prince George Senior Communications Officer Mike Kellett says water service crews are near the Nechako Bowling Lanes working to stop the water from spilling.
“The cause of the spill appears to be from an old water main and it looks like it’ll take a while to get it shut off.”
Kellett says there’s only one flooded basement and adds drivers may want to avoid the area until the situation has resolved.
“City water crews are on scene shutting off 11 to 12 valves from Victoria to Melville and we will be working to determine the affected area.”
An update will be provided later this morning.
