If you’ve got a ticket to Friday’s Prince George Cougars game, you could be the lucky winner of tens of thousands of dollars.
Northland Auto Group is buying $20,000 dollars worth of 50/50 raffle tickets and distributing them to the first 2,000 fans. All attendees will have a chance to buy more tickets before sales close during the second intermission. Unlike other games, you can start buying the raffle tickets at 12PM at the arena.
Cougars Business VP Andy Beesley is expecting an outrageous jackpot, especially after the last time the team did this two years ago.
“Our system actually shut down it was so overloaded and we had to stop sales at the end of the first period. That night, the total jackpot was around $68,000 so imagine what would’ve happened if we kept sales going right up until the end of the second intermission?”
Beesley adds the Cougars have since updated the system and promised our newsroom the new system won’t crash.
The proceeds will go to the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation. Beesley says it’s a special feeling work with, and helping local groups.
“We believe that this is a fantastic community to raise our children in and to work and to play in. The reason that we feel that way is because there are so many awesome people and so many great businesses here.”
Anyone 19+ with a game day ticket can buy 50/50 tickets.
If that wasn’t enough, Friday’s game is also “Pink in the Rink” night. The Cougars will wear special pink jerseys and auction them off following the game. All jersey proceeds will go to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
The Prince George Cougars play the Prince Albert Raiders Friday. Puck drops at 7 PM.
