CNC kicks off International Events Week

The College of New Caledonia is celebrating the cultural diversity on campus with its International Events week.

There will be things like a cricket tournament, First Nations potluck, and Diwali celebrations.

International Education Director Barbara Old says this is a great way to celebrate the over 30 countries represented on campus and all the contributions the students make to the city.

“They host the community events like Chinese New Year and Diwali, they volunteer with community organisations, and we’re also very grateful for their support the community gives to the students, such as the Mayor’s welcome party every September and the home-stay families.”

According to the provincial government, international students spend over $2 billion in BC on tuition, housing, and entertainment, which supports about 27,500 jobs.

Old welcomes everyone in the city to campus for the events:

November 15th – Turban Up Day, 11:30 – 1:00 at the Gathering place
November 16th – Potluck – 11:30 – 1:00
November 17th – Badminton Tournament, 11:30 – 1:00 at the Gym and an Indian movie, 3:30 at the Lecture Theatre
