One man is in jail after the Prince George RCMP investigated a report of two men hiding in the bushes behind a residence on Cuddie Crescent.
The incident took place early this morning. Officers patrolling the area stopped a lone male on Cuddie Crescent just after 3am. When the man didn’t respond to officer commands, he was detained as part of the investigation.
A pat down search revealed what appeared to be a handgun. On closer examination, it was determined to be a replica BB gun. The man also had a steel hammer, balaclava, wig and sharpened screw driver in his possession. Officers arrested the suspect.
Quinnton Vern Campbell is facing several charges including possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes, possession of break-in instruments and two counts of possession of a firearm contrary to an order. Campbell was on conditions not to possess firearms when he was arrested.
He has been remanded to custody until his court appearance on November 2.
The Prince George RCMP are concerned about replica firearms and would like residents to know that anyone in possession of replica guns should be aware that improper use could prompt an enhanced response by police officers.
