UNBC’s Global Speakers Series continues Friday, this time with a special guest on the upcoming American election.
Dr. Paul Quirk is a Harvard grad and the Phil Lind Chair in US Politics and Representation at UBC Political Science. He’ll be at the school presenting his thoughts about how to make the American government “work again.”
He believes one of the fundamental issues in US government is the constitutional system and today’s political system butt heads.
“In the past, the parties were diverse and had a lot of moderates in them and the opposing parties could work together and did work together quite well, but that doesn’t seem to be true anymore.
“With political parties that are strongly ideological and opposed to each other, there is not any obvious way to improve that the US is in the challenging time for the foreseeable future.”
He’ll weigh in on this year’s campaigns, political leaders, and predictions for after the polls close. His presentation will begin at noon at UNBC’s Gathering Place.
