Talktober kicks off tomorrow in College Heights

It’s that time of year again – Talktober starts tomorrow.

The first scheduled session is in College Heights at the Columbus Community Centre beginning at 6:30.

“It’ll kick off our second year in a row for Talktober events.,” says Mayor Lyn Hall. “It gives the neighbourhood an opportunity to come out and meet with Council and talk to all our various departments and then there’s a questions and answer period at the end.”

Hall says the first series last year had a great response.

“It gives you an opportunity to voice your concerns or to tell us what your view is on certain things that we’re doing – things that we’re doing right, things you’d like to see us do better and things you’d like to see us do period.”

Citizen suggestions received last year even produced some concrete results.

“There was strong, strong support for the skateboard park at the Bravery park area and we just opened the park about 3 weeks ago now. That was a very strong piece that came out of that meeting.”

There will be 5 sessions in different city neighbourhoods this year.
