The BC Government is providing $162,652 to help brain injury survivors in the North.
$71,400 will be going directly to the Prince George Brain Injured Group to support programs here in the city, while more than $91,000 will be distributed throughout the rest of the north through the Northern Brain Injury Association.
“Brain injury has the ability to devastate people’s lives.” MLA Shirley Bond said “People who live with brain injuries are often very complex and it’s challenging to find appropriate services so we know the effects on families can be overwhelming.”
It’s all part of a $3 million contribution from the Provincial Government to the Brain Injury Alliance of BC.
“This is the result of a lot of work on a number of peoples parts and we want to thank the people in Northern BC.” Bond said “They really worked hard to spearhead the initiative to bring the alliance together and allowed government to respond with significant funding right across the province.”
The funding will be used for client services as well as injury education and injury prevention programs in PG and remote communities across Northern BC.
