It’s Tech Week in Prince George!

If you’re a fan of tech culture, this could be an exciting week for you.

Hosted by the Innovation Central Society (ICS) with support from Emily Carr University, Two Rivers’ Maker Lab and GameQuest, the week will see a series of events – from panels to workshops and social gatherings – take place at the Hub Space.

It’s the first time a tech-focused event of this scale has happened in Prince George.

“There have been other technology and innovation based or themed events in the past but this is the first time that a full suite of events over a few days has been put together like this, as far as I know,” says ICS executive Director Matt Hutcheon.

Things kick off on Wednesday with a classic video games tournament sponsored by Game Quest. Other events include a hackers hang out, learn to code for adults and a panel on Gaming, Coding and Maker Culture.

If you can only make one event, Hutcheon says Friday is the day to attend.

“The Tech and Innovation showcase on Friday is going to be a really interesting mix of exhibits and demonstrations of different companies and ideas and technologies that we have in the community. So people can come and experience those and learn more about the cool stuff that’s happening here.”

It all wraps up with a celebration of local tech and innovation at a BBQ event on Saturday. You can find tickets on Eventbrite.
