Prince George athlete Jennifer Ferguson is heading to Las Vegas this week for the Strongman Corporation’s Master’s National Finals.
The 42-year-old is the sole competitor from BC and returns after winning the Heavyweight title last year. Even though she’s the reigning champ, she’s not taking the competition lightly.
“I have that experience from last year but every year is different. There’s a whole new list of competitors going so we’ll see when I get down there.”
Ferguson has only been doing this for about two years. When you love what you’re doing, she says it’s easier to log the hours at the gym.
“I won’t lie that there are days that I think ‘oh, why am I doing this?’ when it feels really hard but basically it’s just fun and I love strength sports so it’s a good fit for me.”
She’ll compete in five events, including a 450 lb carry, a 425 lb deadlift for reps, and a 200 lb sandbag run.
