The Prince George Cougars have added two-time Stanley Cup winner Shawn Chambers as an Assistant Coach for the rest of September.

Chambers was a defenceman for 13 NHL seasons with five teams.

He scored 50 goals and added 185 assists and 364 penalty minutes in 625 regular season games.

Chambers won the Cup with the New Jersey Devils (1994-95) and the Dallas Stars (1998-99).

The Tri-City Americans scored four goals in the 3rd period to knock off the PG Cougars 5-3 in a pre-season game Wednesday night.

Kody McDonald with a pair and Jansen Harkins tallied for the Cougars while Nick McBride stopped 18 of 19 shots in the first half of the game, including a penalty shot.

15-year-old Taylor Gauthier blocked 13 of 16 in the second half.

Tri-City outshot PG 36-27.

The Americans tallied the winner on a power play with 3:35 left and added an empty netter.

The Cougars play two more exhibition games this week in Kennewick, Washington.

They face the Kootenay Ice Thursday night and the Portland Winterhawks Friday afternoon at 1.
