Gas price drop predicted for later this week

Judging by the weather, summer is officially over.

On the bright side, this should mean lower prices at the gas bar in the next few days.

“I think it’s a safe bet to see prices drop in Prince George and area,” says Dan McTeague, an analyst with Gasbuddy.com. “Right now it looks like prices are likely to drop in the next several days by 3, 4, maybe even 5 cents a litre bringing us well below the $1 mark here in Prince George.”

McTeague says the changing of the seasons brings about the break at the pumps.

“This is an important time of year for refineries as they stop producing more expensive to make summer blended gasoline and they go to a cheaper to make gasoline.”

Even without the predicted drop, Prince George has some of the most affordable fuel in the province.

Prices in the Lower Mainland are sitting at about $1.23 a litre.
