There was a bit of a scare for a pair of canoeists on the Nechako River this afternoon.
At about 2pm today, the Prince George RCMP received a report of an overturned canoe at the Cottonwood Island Park boat launch.
Emergency services attended the area and witnesses stated that a canoe had capsized and the two occupants were floating down the Nechako River. PG Search & Rescue Society, a helicopter, and a boat were requested to assist.
But just 20 minutes later, police made contact with both occupants who found their way out of the Nechako River before getting to the Fraser River. Both canoeists were wearing lifejackets and seemed to be uninjured.
