New Subdivision and PWB lounge proposals; tonight’s Council meeting Preview

Prince George Council meets tonight and has a few things to look over.

Pacific Western Brewing is seeking permission to put in a 74-person lounge and an event area at its brewery. The proposed, indoor facility could serve beer until 1 AM. The applicant doesn’t expect it cause traffic or noise issues.

Another applicant is hoping to rezone 23.3 hectares of undeveloped land near Chief Lake Road and the Hart Highway into a subdivision. The plan is to put detached homes on 19 hectares and make the rest greenbelt and parks.

Council will look at rewording a bylaw which would make the city more inviting for wineries, cideries, distilleries, and breweries. Making a few changes to the Zoning Bylaw will allow these businesses to set up shop in more areas within the city limits.

There will also be presentations from the Red Dress Campaign Prince George 2016, which is planning events to honour the hundreds of missing and murdered indigenous women. The Northern Undergraduate Student Society is also presenting; it’s seeking $5000 from the city to help with UNBC’s 21st annual Backyard Barbecue this September.

Tonight’s meeting begins at 6 PM in the City Chambers.
