If you’re a Harry Potter fan, Books and Company is the place to be tonight.
To celebrate the release of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, the store is hosting a themed event, including appearances by some of the franchise’s favourite characters.
“We’ll have trivia we’re going to have a Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans challenge for the brave people,” says store manager Kayli Vandermeer. “I’ve tried them – they’re gross! Luna Lovegood will be here. We’ve got Professor Trelawney doing tea leaf readings. We’ll have Ollivander himself here to help people pick out a wand and purchase it if they’d like. It’s going to be a blast.”
She says there will also be a photoshoot and a screening of one of the Harry Potter movies.
Copies of the Cursed Child will be available starting at midnight. Vandermeer says the event is for Potter fans of all ages.
“It’s open to everybody. Families are more than welcome. We’d love to see everyone come out in costume. Hopefully we’ll see a lot of witches and wizards that night.”
If a midnight party is past your bedtime, you can call ahead to pre-order your copy or drop by the store on Sunday. Vandermeer says the story will stay open this holiday weekend to help Potter fans get their hands on the newest instalment as soon as possible.
