Northern BC’s roads are now more up-to-date where moose / vehicle collision hot spots can be found.
New research out of UNBC has studied moose collision dating back 14 years and now Senior Lab Instructor Roy Rea says the Ministry of Transportation has followed up on their recommendation to update highway warning signs every five years.
Rea says his research found moose often travel around the area, and have been known to frequently pop up in an area without signage.
He has found that drivers can become desensitized to warning signs when nothing happens, which leaves them vulnerable when a moose appears on the road in an area without warning.
