The Prince George Public Library is promoting active living and green transportation this month with a special offer for those who like to bike and those who like to hang on to their library books.
“We’re running a Bike to the Library promo through July 27 to highlight the new bike racks that we have outside of the Bob Harkins Branch downtown,” says Amy Dhanjal, Prince George Public Library communications coordinator. “The library is encouraging people to ride their bikes to either branch. For each day that they ride their bike to the library we will remove up to $5 of overdue fees.”
Dhanjal says it’s as easy as putting foot to pedal.
“All they need to do is either show us their helmet or snap a picture of their bike and bring it into our staff to take a look at.”
Dhanjal says they’ve already seen an uptick in bikes at the branch since the racks went in.
“We received an Imagine Community grant through Northern Health so one of the things we wanted to do was encourage our patrons to get outside and get active but since we put the new bike racks in we’ve already seen more bikes around. It’s great.”
If you struggle to return your library items on time, this could be your big chance to have your fines forgiven. Better get pedalling!
