Downtown hotel worksite rumbling back to life

The long dormant downtown hotel construction site is showing signs of life.

The project was announced in 2012 as a Delta Hotel with a goal of being open in for the 2015 Canada Games, however work has been stalled since Spring 2014.

Marriott eventually bought out the project, which led to large design changes and further delays. The most recent plans indicated a 175 room hotel with conference space, however that may change.

Speaking on behalf of developer Rod Mcleod, project Communications Manager Kevin Brown confirmed work is underway.

“Equipment was moved on to the site this week, a new project office has been located on the site, so for sure project site preparation began this week.”

Brown says more information on the status of the project will be released on July 22nd
