Despite the threat of rain, Prince George’s Pride Parade and Festival attracted crowds of people – from face-painted kids to silver-haired seniors.
“And that’s what this day is all about,” says Prince George Pride Society’s Stacey Hewlett. “It’s a diverse day and it is open and welcoming to everyone.”
Hewlett says all of the Prince George Pride Society’s hard work has been truly worth it.
“You know what – it’s crazy but it’s fabulous! We have so many great volunteers, the executive is unbelievable and I’m thrilled.”
She says those who missed the Parade still have a chance participate in Pride events. The Pride Party is happening this evening at the Civic Centre.
“Tickets available here today at the festival and at the door tonight for the big party at the Civic Centre so come on down and get your tickets. They’re $20 apiece.”
The festivities finish tomorrow with the Phoenix brunch at the Coast Inn of the North.
“That is the wrap up. It honours someone in our community who has really shown growth and rebirth and shows real Pride for their community all year long.”
Tickets for both events are available at the Festival at City Hall until 4pm today. You can also get tickets to the Pride party at the door while they last.
