School District 57 is teaching students about different types of literacy.
The district has approved a variety of efforts to educate students about more than just reading.
District Principal Cindy Heitman says they are starting to branch off from the traditional idea of literacy.
Heitman says each community in the School District submits their own plan for literacy.
She says that way each municipality can tailor programs that meet their needs.
