The first day of the 12th annual Variety – The Children’s Charity Radiothon has wrapped up.
Between 6 AM and 6 PM today, local people like you donated $27,764 and 126 Buddy Bears for local children with special health needs. Both of these totals are more than last year’s day one numbers.
Producer Gene Bridges is happy with the fundraiser has gone thus far.
“Today has been a really good day. We’ve exceeded what we able to do last year on day one and that’s good because our goal is, ultimately to do more tomorrow. In other words, finish this year more than we did last year. So [we’re] just looking forward to having a great tomorrow,” he says.
