PG Airport pushing for another daily flight to Vancouver

In this year’s first quarter, passenger traffic at the Prince George airport is 1% higher than forecasted.

That being said, numbers are down slightly from this time last year, mostly due to 2015 Canada Winter Games and the current economy.

PG Airport Authority President and CEO John Gibson is optimistic about the rest of the year. He’s working on another daily flight to Vancouver, which could increase traffic even more.

“The carriers are keeping their airfares up right now because the flights are really full so when the fares go down, well we get more traffic and there’s more discretionary traffic so we’re really pushing to get another flight,” he says.

He hopes to have the flight by Fall and is positive it’ll be in place by 2017.

He also adds West Jet has been looking to reinstate it’s flights to Calgary.
