Overdose deaths on the rise in BC, but not PG

2013 saw the highest number of drug overdose fatalities in the province.

However, a report from the Coroner’s Office shows Northern BC is sitting well below the provincial average at 22 overdose deaths last year, making up a only a part of the 322 total fatalities.

Coroner Barb McLintock says a major problem is people mixing drugs.

She says it is even more dangerous to combine drugs that slow down your breathing.
