City Staff updates Wildfire Management

City Staff is updating Council on the Prince George’s wildfire management.

Because of the surrounding forests, the city is listed as “high risk” for possible wildfire damage.

Director of Public Works Gina Layte Liston says city staff has looked at plans old and new to make a new resolution.

“We look at the different plans and strategies that have been done over the years, taking those recommendations, and then also doing an assessment of the existing wildfire hazards that are out there and then providing new recommendations,” she says.

Staff will present the new plans to Council at Monday’s meeting.

Pending approval, the work will begin next year.
