Despite a rainy weekend, the 30th annual Mega Sale is off to a good start, and the city is seeing the benefits.
Coordinator Dan Dennis says up to 40% of vehicle sales are from people outside the city.
He says that means more outside money is coming into Prince George.
“It’s good for the hotels, it’s good for the restaurants, it’s good for the gas stations I guess. But overall, it’s very important for the city from that standpoint,” he says.
When the auto dealers are doing well, the benefits trickle down further than the local businesses.
“They are a huge tax base that is responsible for a lot of the infrastructure in our city. Of course, all of the non-profits and organizations that these dealers support whenever they need something it seems like the auto dealers are there to help out.”
Dealers like Northland Dodge have had people drive in as far as Campbell River to buy a car.
The sale continues until June 18th.
