There will be free hot dogs at the Spruce City Wildlife Association’s trout release and BBQ this Thursday at Shane Lake.
“We’ve got 100 or so rainbow trout coming up from the lower mainland through the Freshwater Fisheries Society,” says Association spokesperson Steve Hamilton. “We’ve partnered with City of Prince George and are going to be releasing them at Shane Lake, having a family barbecue, letting the kids have a fish and releasing them into Shane Lake for everyone to catch.”
Hamilton says partnering with the City has allowed the Association to put on a public event.
“We’ve actually done releases before in the past but nothing with a barbecue, getting the general public involved like this. So we’re reaching out and hoping everybody can come out and have a good time. We look forward to seeing as many people out as possible to hopefully get a good thing going here and many more in the future.”
The event runs from 5 until 7pm in Forests for the World. It’s free and open to parents, kids and community members of all ages.
