Attention booklovers! There’s a massive book sale going on at the Prince George Roll-A-Dome today.
“It’s been neglected for a little while but we have great volunteers who are just jumping in and making it the great community centre it was intended to be,” says Margaret Jackson, president of the Prince George Dome Society. “The book sale is happening today, 11-4pm, upstairs in the meeting room. We’ve got books and books and books – an amazing amount of books. All proceeds go to saving the Roll-a-Dome.”
Jackson says efforts to save the dome are driven by volunteers but monetary support is needed as well.
“Most of it goes towards the process of saving the dome and structuring the society. There are costs involved in just becoming the society that can move forward to become a saving the dome project.”
She says the Roll-A-Dome is still getting lots of use.
“We do have several regular users from the Rated PG Roller Derby Girls to birthday parties to the CanFor Children’s Christmas Party to senior masters hockey players.”
Jackson says the society will also be meeting today to discuss its new marketing strategy as it plans to eventually purchase the dome from its current owners.
