Big Brother Big Sister partner with Blackburn Community for the kids

Big Brothers Big Sisters Prince George is teaming up with the Blackburn Community Association to better local child care services.

Bringing the two together means doubling the number of kids the program can take in. BBBSPG currently has room for 36 kids; now with the BCA, there’s room for another either after school and 20 pre-schoolers.

BBBSPG is going to carry a bring over a few in the collaboration, like its mentoring values and weekly field trips. Program Manager Darbi Brand says these are things parents should get excited about.

“We want to help create children who have an understanding and value of the community that they live in so we really like to make sure that we’re very prominent in the community with our kids and showing them all the great things that Prince George has to offer,” she says.

To fill parents in on all the details, there will be a Q&A night on June 14th.

Registration begins soon, and the program will start in September.
