PG Council wants to boost transit ridership

Some changes might be coming to Prince George’s transit.

As council discussed how to increase a stagnant ridership Monday night, the possibility of getting newer, more efficient “Vicinity Buses” was brought up.

Councillor Cameron Stolz promoted the buses as costing half of what a current bus runs for, running on a third less of their operating cost.

He points out that the challenge is getting a new bus from BC Transit when the city isn’t due for any more until 2018.

Council will still look at how to get a vicinity bus, while also bringing up tools seen around the Metro Vancouver transit system, such as the “Trip Planner” app and “Next Bus” signs.
