Second Otway hearing not enough, third one on Wednesday

It was another night full of presentations, and another night without a decision about 6161 Otway Road.

Homeowners and proprietors chimed in for 4 hours about whether the riverside property should be used for light industrial work.

City General Manager Walter Babicz says Council’s decision to postpone the debate shows the seriousness of the issue.

“It speaks to how important Council sees it for the future of the community and this neighbourhood specifically,” he says.

A third hearing is now scheduled for Wednesday, and Babicz says it’ll pick up right where Monday night left off.

“The hearing is just going to be continued from where it left off (Monday) evening, so there’s a list I believe the Mayor said of about 9 speakers in the queue. Council will start rolling through those speakers on Wednesday night,” he says.

People who wish to speak can still add their names to the list.

That meeting starts at 6 PM in the City chambers.
