College of New Caledonia rolling out digital delivery initiative

The College of New Caledonia is working on a new digital delivery system to allow students at its satellite campuses access to a wider range of programs.

CNC President Henry Reiser says instructors will be able to teach from any campus “wherever the expertise is sitting.”

Reiser says the idea was born when a woman in Fraser Lake asked him how she can upgrade while she’s at home with her newborn. He compared the incoming system to how UBC provides UNBC Northern Medical Students with instruction from Vancouver; “authentic and real time, like the person is in the room.”

CNC has been running a pilot project between Prince George and Quesnel offering about a dozen classes using the method, and Reiser says it was received very well.

“This is not a replacement for face to face, this is just another tool that will help us reach out and touch more students in their communities.”

If all goes to plan, Reiser says they hope to have the system running at all campuses this fall.

Something going on in the Prince George area you think people should know about?
