Block party honouring RCMP in PG today

A block party is taking place today to honour RCMP in Prince George.

One of the organizers is Paul Berteig of Timbers Community Church who says the party will thank police for their work in the city, while welcoming them to their new building and neighbourhood.

Given the recent tragedy in Moncton, Berteig says there is a special significance to the event.

“It sure brings home the fact that sometimes you wait too long to say thank you to people. We don’t want to miss an opportunity, our hearts are grieved and we feel terrible for the families out there and for all the members.”

The block party kicks off at noon today on 5th avenue between Victoria and Vancouver streets.
