The Prince George Cougars added depth to their blue line as they acquired 16-year-old (1998-born) defenceman Joel Lakusta (Sherwood Park) and a sixth round bantam pick in 2016 from the Saskatoon Blades in return for the CHL rights to 20-year-old goalie Collin Olson. Lakusta (6’1”, 151 pounds) was chosen by the Blades in the 7th round of the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft. Last season he played with the Sherwood Park Midget AAA Kings and scored four goals, 10 assists & added 14 penalty minutes in 35 games. Olson (Apple Valley, MN) was listed by the Cougars prior to the 2012-2013 season. He spent parts of last season with the Ohio State Buckeyes of the NCAA and the Sioux City Musketeers of the USHL. He was selected in the 6th round of the 2012 NHL Draft (159th overall) by the Carolina Hurricanes.
