Area MLA Offers Condolences Following Deadly Avalanche

The Honourable Shirley Bond, MLA for Prince George-Valemount and Minister of Jobs, Tourism and Skills Training and Minister Responsible for Labour, has issued the following statement on the avalanche near McBride, B.C. that claimed the lives of five snowmobilers on Jan. 29, 2016:

“The Renshaw is a popular snowmobiling area near the community of McBride and people come from across the province, many from Alberta, to experience the outdoor winter activities.

“Having represented the region as MLA for almost 15 years, this avalanche and the resulting loss of life is devastating news and our thoughts and prayers are with those who have lost a loved one.

“I also want to thank the McBride and Valemount RCMP, our incredible Search and Rescue teams, paramedics and first responders for their efforts. I appreciate their courage and skill in the search and recovery process. It is a very sad day for all of us.”
