Effective as of Friday morning, the Prince George Coliseum is known as the “Rolling Mix Concrete Arena.”
Both the Spruce Kings and the city signed a 5-year agreement to rebrand the building.
Spruce Kings General Manager Mike Hawes says community backing like this is vital to the team’s success.
“The fact that Rolling Mix Concrete has come on board in this way is huge for us. It just goes to show that the support of our community continues for our franchise,” he says.
Hawes thinks that the community will adjust to the new name fairly quickly.
“In the next few months and the coming years you’re never going to hear anyone mention anything about that [the old name]. It’s just going to be the ‘Rolling Mix Concrete arena,'” he says, “I actually like the way it sounds.”
As part of the agreement, the long-time local company will give “$25,000 – $30,000 annually to the Spruce Kings and the City: $15,000 – $20,000 worth of concrete to support the construction of the Spruce Kings Lottery House and $10,000.”
