Cariboo earns split against Valley West

The Cariboo Cougars remain in a dog fight for top spot in the BCMML after a road split in Richmond against the Valley West Hawks.

On Saturday, Cariboo dumped the Hawks 9-4 thanks to a Reid Perepeluk hat-trick.

Daine Dubois, Ethan O’Rourke and Ty Kolle also netted first period goals.

Riley Coish scored the lone goal in the middle frame while Josh Maser put two into the back of the net in the third.

The win was their 11th straight.

Valley West gained a measure of revenge this morning (Sun) bouncing back to win 3-1.

Vancouver Giants prospect James Malm scored a pair while Ben Evanish added another.

Trey Thomas replied for Cariboo.

Dorrin Luding made 34 saves in defeat.

The loss snaps the Cougars 11 game winning streak.

Both teams are tied for top spot in the BCMML with Valley West having two games in hand.

Cariboo’s record is 22-7-3 and host the Kootenay Ice on Saturday and Sunday from Kin 1.
