Timberwolves can’t stand the Heat

The UNBC Timberwolves continue to struggle at home after getting swept in both men’s and women’s basketball doubleheaders against the UBCO Heat Saturday at the Northern Sport Centre.

On the women’s side, the Heat burned through the Lady T-Wolves by a 72-41 score.

UNBC was outscored 59-27 in the final three quarters after taking a 15-12 lead.

Claire Elliott was the leading scorer for UBCO with 19 followed by a 16 point performance from Emily Kanester.

Vasiliki Louka scored a team high 10 points for the T-Wolves.

The Heat improve to 10-3 while UNBC drops to 2-12.

The UNBC men fell to UBCO 78-64 after blowing a 40-33 lead at half-time.

Mitch Goodwin led the offensive charge for the Heat with 25 points, including a 10 for 14 showing on field goals.

Aldrich Berrios also pitched in with 23 for UBCO after going 7 for 7 at the free-throw line and 6 for 14 from beyond the arch.

Elliott ended up being the top scorer for the UNBC with 17, including four three pointers.

UNBC has lost seven in a row.

The T-Wolves drop to 3-11 while UBCO improves to 7-7.
