Coldsnap Music Festival getting set for 2016

The 2016 Coldsnap Music Festival kicks off next week.

Running from January 22nd to 30th, Artistic Director Sue Judge says several themed events are planned for opening weekend. “Kick-off is always a dance night at the Ramada, the second night is a Celtic night also at the hotel along with a Hot Jazz night from the PG Playhouse.”

The Devin Cuddy Band, The Matinee and Kym Gouchie will all perform opening night at the Ramada Ballroom.

After a big year collaborating with the Canada Winter Games in 2015, Judge says they are looking forward to taking full control of the festival again “Our main goal was to back into the track of what we did in 2014, so the format is very similar, the genres are always different every year so that we can reach as many people in the community as possible.”

This year, the workshop segment of the festival (11 in all) will be expanding thanks to a sponsorship from Integris Credit Union.

Judge says tickets are already selling out for many of the shows. They can be bought in advance for the $30 dollars through the festival website at www.coldsnapfestival.com or in person at Books and Company and Studio 2880.
