Tabor Mountain in Prince George is the proud host of the Canadian Ski Cross Tour’s NorAm event this weekend.
Race Chief, Jim Martin says the event will feature two members of the Prince George Ski Club.
“Tiana Gairns is a prospect with the Next Gen program who competes at the world cup level and Gavin Rowell is training right now with the Okanagan Ski-team.”
Martin adds the competition is a carry-over from the Canada Winter Games.
“It’s really a legacy from the Canada Winter Games because of the investment with infrastructure, the opportunity to train officials at the highest level along with the equipment that was provided. Without any of that this race would not be happening.”
Participants must have a Freestyle License from the International Ski Federation and be 16 years of age or older.
40 skiers from Canada and the North-western United States are expected to arrive.
Practice runs are on Friday followed by Time Trials, Heats and Finals on Saturday and Sunday.
